HeraHera Diani is a freelance journalist, based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Previously, she worked for over six years as a reporter at The Jakarta Post daily, one of the country’s leading newspapers, and as a part-time editor at the Indonesian edition of Rollingstone magazine for nearly a year.

She has written numerous articles with topics as diverse as politics, health, religious tolerance (or lack thereof), culture, and food. Aside from writing articles, she provided commentaries for local television stations, and became a member of jury panel for national film festivals.

Hera has won awards from the national journalistic essay competitions on health issue and film criticism respectively. In November 2005, she was among the participants of the weeklong HIV/AIDS reporting workshop in New York City granted by Reuters Foundation’s. She was also an East West Center’s 2006 Jefferson fellow.

She received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Universitas Katolik Parahyangan in Bandung, West Java. In early 2007, she was involved in a three-month project at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Jakarta office, as the program associate for the establishment of HIV/AIDS control program in prison and the research on harm reduction program development.
